MG Hector in Indonesia gets revamped with ADAS technology just like seen in Gloster

Newly launched RS variant of Indonesia-spec Hector is inculcated with state of the art ADAS tech. It features adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and traffic jam assistance.

In 2019, MG Motor debuted in Indian market with its famous SUV Hector. This SUV is known as the Wuling Almaz in the Indonesian market. MG recently got a new range-topping RS variant in its Indonesia market. This  boasts of additional features includes ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology.

Safety features like adaptive cruise control, cruise assistance, lane departure warning, collision mitigation system, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, and traffic jam assistance are inculcated in this latest ADAS-equipped RS variant. MG’s full-size SUV i.e. the Gloster is already offered with this technology in India.

Even though there is no ADAS but  there are many other safety features that are equipped in India-spec Hector by MG. It comes with brake assist, up to six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and traction control. It also has a tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat anchors, hill-hold assist, and a 360-degree camera.

There are speculations that MG could bring ADAS tech to the India-spec Hector in coming future as one of its prime rivals, the Mahindra XUV500, is set to feature it in its new-gen avatar in 2021.

If Indian market is expected to be launched with the ADAS tech  Hector, it will certainly be a premium luxury over the SUV’s current pricing (Rs 12.89 lakh to Rs 18.42 lakh ex-showroom).

The Hector is available in both petrol and diesel engines. With 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit, it is rated at 143PS and 250Nm along with being mated to a standard 6-speed MT and an optional 6-speed DCT or the new 8-speed CVT gearbox. The carmaker also offers the turbo-petrol engine with the option of a 48V mild-hybrid system, with only a 6-speed MT gearbox. Its 2.0-litre diesel engine, coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox, produces 170PS and 350Nm.
